Description

In this former convent founded in the 14th century, you will discover the history of the Dauphins, lords of Dauphiné, as well as the collection of César Filhol, creator of the Delphinal Museum in these places.

The current building was remodeled in the 17th century, but the remains of the dolphin palace present on the esplanade testify to the prestigious past of the place until the 14th century. César Filhol was the initiator of the classification of these remains as Historic Monuments in 1922.

The rooms in the central wing of the building are dedicated to the history of which the convent was a witness. This evocation takes shape thanks to an astonishing collection of everyday objects, earthenware and pottery, and ancient iconography assembled by César Filhol and preserved for us by the Friends of Old Beauvoir association.
A space is also dedicated to the life of the Carmelites, monks who lived there until the 18th century.
