The painter Pierre Noël Bernard likes to create landscapes where he sets up scenes of which he gives us few clues: between enigmas and memories, between shadow and light, his images tell us fragments of stories and invite us to dream…

After studying at the Saint-Étienne School of Fine Arts, Pierre Noël Bernard co-founded a group of architect-visual artists working on the urban landscape. At the same time, he developed an illustration portfolio that led to collaborations with the press, including Urbanisme, Dépêche Mode, Le Monde des Livres, Magazine Littéraire, and Lire. Later, teaching visual communication at the Besançon School of Fine Arts for many years, he was able to free himself from commissions and thus give free rein to the expression of his imagination—in which the Vercors, "his beloved mountain," often surfaces.
