Description

This tour takes you to discover the Vassieux plain and its ridge trails. Enjoy the many viewpoints of the Diois mountains and the return journey via the magnificent Roman Road.

Step-by-step itinerary

Du Col du Rousset (alt. 1254m), go down the road and take the track on the left in the forest until the Col de St-Alexis (alt. 1222m).

Continue straight ahead. Pass the Biathlon stadium. Further on, through a clearing, join the Pas du Pré (alt. 1186m).

Turn left. Go down a wide, steep, and sometimes technical path. Reach Greppes (alt. 1112m).

Go down a stony path to the left. Continue straight on the plateau until you reach the Castle (alt. 1053m).

Take a grassy path on the left. Turn left at Goats (alt. 1065m) and join The Necropolis (alt. 1065m).

Cross the road and take a path, then a trail to reach Vassieux-en-Vercors (alt. 1050m).

Follow the signposting n°14 in the village and take a path on the left in the middle of the fields until Cherry trees (alt. 1115m).

Continue straight ahead, then at the crossroads take a path due south which joins the undergrowth. Reach a track, follow it to the left then turn right to reach the Lauset Fountain (alt. 1243m).

Take a path on the left that climbs into the woods. Join a road and follow it to the right until you reach the Plainet Fountain (alt. 1335m).

Leave the road. Pass in front of the forest hut and follow the very steep climb to the Col de la Chau (alt. 1431m).

Take the ridge path. Viewpoints. Join the Vassieux Pass (alt. 1333m).

Turn left and follow the markings through the woods and lawn to the Pass of Chironne (alt. 1416m).

Continue straight ahead and go back down the Roman Road. Viewpoint! Go under the tunnel to reach the finish line.
