Description

This trail takes you on a journey through an exceptional forest, home to five species of wild ungulates. It features climbs and descents through clearings, woods, and lawns, along tracks and trails.

Step-by-step itinerary

Au Cross-country ski center (alt. 1085m) follow the road due north. Keep left to find a forest track that leads to the Charbonnières crossroads (alt. 1090m).

Take the Charbonnières forest road on the left, winding its way to the Four Roads (alt. 1156m).

Cross the road. Take the forest track gently climbing to the Rama Pass (alt. 1279m).

Turn left onto a steep, technical descent. Further on, cross the road until you reach Lente Farm (alt. 1149m).

Turn right. Cross the stream and turn right up a steep, sometimes technical, climb. Reach a road.

Cross the road. Go up a steep path on the right. Further up, reach the Ski lift of the Lapiaz (alt. 1378m).

Turn left. Go to Hot Clapier (alt. 1417m). Follow the forest markings to reach the Foot of St Martin (alt. 1425m).

Take a path opposite which goes down to join Top of Bournette (alt. 1401m). Turn right onto the path crossing the Bournette Lawn (alt. 1325m).

Opposite, take the Draille des Moutons. Go to the Cross of Bournillon (alt. 1290m). Go down to the left The Coast (alt. 1208m).

Turn right onto the forest track. Further on, turn left and follow a wooded path leading to the Pelouse des Fourneaux.

Cross the lawn to go up a path and emerge at the Pot of the Mute (alt. 1189m).

Take the sometimes technical descent opposite. Pass the Mandement (alt. 1090m). Go back up to the right until Scialet Félix (alt. 1100m).

Go straight down the path. Pass the fence (be sure to close it properly!) and cross the meadow to reach the starting point.
