This long hike is one of the most beautiful in the Vercors. You will gradually leave the slopes of the Col de Rousset resort to reach the vast wilderness of the Hauts-Plateaux du Vercors. The forest gradually gives way to mountain pastures and their bucolic atmosphere. As you climb towards the Grand Veymont, the environment becomes increasingly mineral; this is the domain of the ibex, which you might be lucky enough to observe.
