Description
In the Drôme, the GR 9 crosses the rocky bars and forests of the Vercors. Winning Léoncel, he tackles a very different southern area, in the Drôme valley, before tackling the Baronnies massif.
Starting in Saint-Amour in the Jura, the GR® 9 reaches, after more than 900 kilometers, the town of Saint-Pons-les-Mûres, near Saint-Tropez, in the Var.
It can be broken down into 8 large sections of 110 kilometers on average.
The trail allows you to discover numerous natural sites such as the Hauts de Chartreuse nature reserve and limestone massifs such as that of Vercors and Baronnies.
The GR9 is the long-distance hiking trail which crosses the largest number of regional natural parks (6), including the new Baronnies Provençales regional natural park.
Coming from Grenoble, the GR9 approaches the southern zone via Nyons and reaches the foot of Mont Ventoux in Brantes, after 2 baronial stages:
Nyons / Buis les Baronnies via the Col de Vôte and the Milmandre and Malpertuis passes (24,2km and +1293m / -1187m elevation gain)
Buis les Baronnies / Brantes via the Nible and the Col de Font Combran (18,3km and +1037m / -833m altitude difference).
The GR9 joins the GRP of the Tour des Baronnies before Buis, to make a common journey to Brantes.
The GR9 offers several variants including the GR91 which, after crossing the Vercors plateaus, arrives in Diois via the Auberge, and joins the GR9 above Plaisians, up to Brantes (34km from the Auberge to Brantes) .
