Step-by-step itinerary

1

From the Le Grand Echaillon signpost (alt. 1162m) , take the groomed track that runs horizontally behind the Grand Echaillon inn. Follow the markings to reach a field.

2

Turn right and follow the edge of the woods. The route goes around the fields, following the edge of the forest, and then turns 180° to reach the Grand Echaillon sheepfold.

3

Climb the snowy slope, staying close to the ridge. After a small clump of trees, head towards the top of the field.

4

Take a passageway in the fence and follow the path to the left. Further on, take the path to the right, which rises gently and then more steeply to reach a lookout point on the edge of the ridge.

5

Continue until you reach the Pas de Chovet then go down to the left to reach a wide groomed track.

6

Begin walking up the track and follow the markings to reach a signpost. Turn left. The route winds across a small plateau before rejoining a track.

7

Take a small track below the track which goes down into the undergrowth. Reach a new groomed track.

8

Follow it downhill, pass by the place called Pissenible and arrive at a crossroads.

9

Take the first track on the right, which goes into the forest to join a new trail. Follow it, then further on, turn left to return to the starting point.
