Pré Grandu Forest House

Small, rustic, unguarded refuge, managed by the National Forestry Office, located on the edge of the Hauts Plateaux Nature Reserve.

1 common room on the ground floor with a wood stove.
17 beds in two upstairs dormitories (one with 2 beds and one with 7 beds) with mattresses and fitted sheets. Bring a duvet and pillows (not provided). There are about ten wool blankets only.
Ecological toilets, no showers or drinking water (rainwater available), photovoltaic lighting, sometimes random (candles possible).
Cutlery + cooking utensils, fixed gas stove, wood available.

PLEASE NOTE: In winter, the Coche forest road is closed to traffic. The barrier is closed at the D518. Access to the Maison de Pré Grandu is only possible on foot, snowshoes, or skis.

Here is some important practical information:
- Outdoor fires are PROHIBITED (!)
- Beware of dogs: The Nature Reserve is 20 meters from the gîte, dogs are not allowed in the Reserve.
- It is not allowed to park in front of the refuge (Reserve), you must go and park once your belongings have been unloaded at the La Coche car park 400m a little further down the road. If for reasons (disability, equestrian equipment, etc.) tenants wish to park in front of the gîte for the duration of their stay, it is imperative to notify the ONF and obtain a pass on the windshield beforehand, otherwise they are liable to a 4th class fine (€135, ONF environmental police or Reserve). The general rule is to leave your belongings and go back down to park in the La Coche car park. Contact: erwan.le-marrec@onf.fr for the "pass" / Nature Reserve model.

1360 m altitude, not accessible by car in winter depending on the snow cover on the uncleared Coche road (between 2 hours and 30 minutes of walking).
