Description

Around the Sacha mountain, this walk allows you to discover two faces of the Vercors landscapes. At the Col de Maupas, the view extends over the Combe de l'Oscence and the more open environment supports lower vegetation.

Step-by-step itinerary

1

From the Auberge de la Sacha to the "Col de Carri" (alt. 1202m), set off by road towards La Chapelle-en-Vercors, following the yellow and red GRP markings. Soon, take a small path on the left overlooking the road towards the Col de Maupas.

2

At the crossroads, take the descending track on the left. Reach the "La May" intersection (alt. 1040m), leave the GRP to continue on the left, now following the yellow and green markings.

3

When you arrive on a gravel path, go back up immediately to the left to reach the "Maupas" crossroads (alt. 1057m) further on and continue uphill towards the Col du Maupas.

4

At the "Col du Maupas" (alt. 1124m), climb left into the undergrowth. After crossing over to the other side, the path gradually descends and emerges at the edge of the Caramentrant plain.

5

Take the wide track on the left at the edge of the forest, pass the "Caramentrant" post (alt. 1181m) and further on, at the fork, leave the track to continue to the right on the grassy path which leads to the Col de Carri.
